I’m Andrew, at least to co-workers & family. For most friends, it’s Andy, but my baseball teammates call me Drew.
I was a long-time resident of the Upper West Side in NYC, but recently moved to Lower Manhattan, and have two sons. I was born in Upstate New York, raised on Long Island, went to college at Rice University, studied in London & stayed local for my MBA at Columbia Business School.
I work in marketing at a big bank and aside from spending free time with family & close friends, I enjoy golf, baseball, exploring new neighborhoods in New York City, cooking, travel, movies & reading. During COVID-19 epidemic, it got down to the last two which left quite a bit of idle time to do more thinking.
So why publish my thoughts on the open internet? This site was inspired by the speech given at the first ever ESPY awards by Jim Valvano shortly before he died which I encourage all to view: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SHKzH6zR8xE. His core challenge for the audience was to find an opportunity laugh, cry and think every day. I try to laugh as much as possible, cry as little as possible, and yes, think. All the time. And since the ultimate expression of thought is writing, this space allows me to distill my best ideas and present them. Putting them on the internet — no matter how many or few people read them — creates the fear that I have a track record that could be exploited in the future, so helps me regulate my thinking to ensure I’m really putting thought into everything I write.
All opinions on this site are my own and I reserve the right to get smarter, think new things & change my mind so everything I publish is subject to editing & re-thinking at any time. I’m not sure why anyone would ever want to advertise, but if someone wants to actually pay money to sell their product — assuming they ever find this — I suppose I would do so if I liked the product and felt that amount I was being paid was fair. That is the extent of my advertising disclosure at this point.
