I’ve been told I have a lot of sayings. My girlfriend calls them ‘Andy’isms.’ So here’s the start of a running list I’ll periodically update:

Words to live by

• If you don’t believe in yourself, nobody else will

• You can’t be honest with others if you’re not with yourself

• If you can’t take care of yourself, you can’t take care of others

• Most people don’t want to hear about how painful the pregnancy and the delivery were, they just want to see a cute baby

• Do what’s most important first

• Be the change you wish to see in the world (I stole that one but I strongly believe in living by it)

• You are who you are when no one else is looking

• Do the work

• Lead from the front

• Don’t fear success

• You can’t control what happens to you but you can control what you do about it

• Past performance is no guarantee of future results but they’re usually pretty well correlated

• You will get out of anything what you put into it

• Everything happens for a reason

• Find your truth

• You get what you pay for

• You sleep in the bed that you make for yourself

• You reap what you sow

• You are what your record says you are

In times of trouble…I guess this happens to me a lot…

• It’s one thing to serve me a shit sandwich, it’s another to tell me it tastes good

• I’m not saying this is what’s happening, it’s what the data says

• When you’re in a hole, the first thing you need to do is stop digging

• The definition of insanity is doing the same things over and over again and expecting different results

• Never make decisions out of emotion

• These things have a way of working themselves out

• When in doubt, go faster

• If you’re in a bind, you’re only certain to fail if you try to be someone else

• It’s always darkest before the end (joke)

• When life gives you lemons, make lemonade. Then go find someone whose life gave them vodka and have a party
